Scenes from a Marriage is a 1973 Swedish miniseries directed by Ingmar Bergman. The series stars Liv Ullmann and Erland Josephson as a couple whose marriage falls apart. Its sequel Saraband and spinoff From the Life of the Marionettes also appear in The Clock.

"The Art of Sweeping Things Under the Rug"[]

  • 7:01 a.m. Marianne (Liv Ullmann) opens the curtains while Johan (Erland Josephson) lies next to an alarm clock and wrestles with the covers.
  • 7:05 a.m. Marianne tosses a newspaper to Johan. He tells her he slept well, but as she begins her exercises, Marianne says she woke up at 5:00 and couldn't get back to sleep.

"The Vale of Tears"[]

  • 12:50 a.m. A clock displays the time. Johan turns on a lamp and sits up in bed.
